Our History

1923

The Beginning

The first classes started on Sept. 10.

Due to segregation, the college had two divisions (locations): The Main division for whites, located at Wyandotte High School, and the Sumner division for Blacks, located at the Sumner High School.

1967

Going Independent

KCKCJC becomes independent from the KCK public school system. This was part of becoming a state-recognized community junior college. KCKJC swears in its first Board of Trustees.

2023
